In the early part of the 19th century, a James Parkinson described a physical ailment as what he called “shaking palsy” bipap machine . It presented the symptoms of the slowdown of all sorts of physical movement, the rigidity and stiffening of muscles, and the general inability to keep balance. In later years of course, this awful ailment has become known as Parkinson’s Disease.
It is incredible to relate, that despite huge medical advances in the centuries since, the cause of this disease is still something which scientists from all around the world still are unable to pinpoint, other than the fact remains that, as we all know, it generally affects the elderly amongst us.
Parkinson’s disease, over time, has adverse affects on the areas of the brain which control movement coordination and our muscle tone. As a consequence, the sufferer begins to suffer from depression, physical and mental fatigue and what can become a total loss of interest in virtually anything.
The treatment for Parkinson’s disease is wide and varied, involving as it does medicinal therapy, possible surgery, and both psychotherapy and exercise therapy. It is important that sufferers have lots of wholesome nutrition, the obvious support of their circle of family and friends, and also ample rest and relaxation.
What is interesting to note is that scientific research has unearthed the fact that some positive effect in the treatment for Parkinson’s can be achieved by the use of what is called whole body vibration therapy, through using vibration exercise machines.
This whole body vibration therapy has been shown to not only increase the strength of muscles generally, but also to relieve pain and improve blood circulation, and improve the sufferer’s ability to carry out physical activity.
It has further been shown that the vibration therapy plays a big part in lymphatic drainage thus getting rid of waste products, and that vibration exercise machines help blood circulation but cause neither any disturbances in the rhythm of the heart, nor stress which may result from doing physical exercises.
